Construction will begin this week on the Wascana Lake Urban Revitalization Project.
Construction for this project will take place constantly over three to four months.
Citizens of Regina have already expressed concern over the level of noise that this project will create.
A committee has been organized to manage the noise of the project. The committee is made up of representatives from the design team of Clifton Associates Ltd., the contractor, Wascana Authority and the Regina City Police.
Noise is more of a concern with construction projects in areas which are highly populated than for example, “up north, where the only real concern about the noise of construction is whether or not is causes a health and safety hazard,” says Greg Vogelsang, the representative from Clifton Associates Ltd.
There will be certain restrictions placed on construction in order to make sure the level of noise is reduced.
Although construction on the project starts this week, it is in preparation of actual digging, which is still far away.
The Wascana Lake Urban Revitalization Project will cost approximately 18-million dollars.
